3 years, no water
By Wolf M.
tallahassee, Florida
Review Posted 03/14/2012
Used it about half a dozen times over a 3 year period. Then when I went to use it again, no water came out at all. The manual trouble shooting section makes no reference at all to this condition.
I had to find the factory telephone number on Google and after a 15 minute wait, talked to a technician who advised me I needed to repair the pump.
I had hoped to save some money by buying this apparatus but that proved a vain hope so I do cannot recommend this product.
PWD RESPONDS: The Service Centers and Technical Support links at the bottom of our website also have Powerwasher's phone number.
Owner's Manuals recommend using a pump saver product when storing the unit. This keeps the seals lubricated so they don't dry-rot, and prevents freezing (not a big problem in Tallahassee, granted).

Powerless

I bought my 1800 in March 2010. I washed a car and about 10 feet of fence and the motor smoked out.
I returned the unit for repair. When I got it back, I powered it up; it ran for a few seconds, then would start up again, then quit, etc.
Powerwasher said it was defective nozzles. I returned them and now have the same problem. Now Powerwasher wants me to return the unit AGAIN!
My conclusion is the units are poorly constructed and poorly supported. One more incident and it'll be an anchor for my neighbors boat.
PWD RESPONDS: Powerwasher units come with a one year Factory Warranty; please be patient and allow Powerwasher to resolve the problems with your unit.
Cycling on and off can mean a clogged filter between your garden hose and the unit; or grit in the nozzle. You can clean the filter on the garden hose side with a toothbrush; a paperclip may help clean the nozzle.
A word about electric pressure washers: they rely on the water rushing through to cool the pump and motor. Turning the unit off when you walk away from it- even for a few minutes- will prolong the life of your pressure washer.
It's also a good idea to take a break every 30-45 minutes to let the motor cool off, depending on the temperature outside.
That may mean breaking a big job into smaller pieces, but it will be easier on both you and the pressure washer!

Exceeded Expectations

I am getting a bit older and want less hassle in my life, so I bought the electric unit to clean my docks as well as my boat. I didn't want to drag out my gas unit to do these quick jobs.
While I wasn't expecting performance anywhere near my gas unit, I was pleasantly surprised to say the least. This thing is perfect for these tasks plus a few more.
I find myself using this pressure washer more than the gas one. It's easy to use and doesn't gouge the wood on my dock.
Another thing I use it for is to get the road dirt off of my Harley. I would never use the gas machine on my bike but this one works fine. I got an undercarriage accessory kit and use it to remove the road grime.
While I haven't used it on my gutters yet, I'm sure it'll do a good job there as well.

Totally Impressed

I am totally impressed with the Task Force 2000 Max-PSI Electric Pressure Washer.
My daughter gave it to me for my birthday and I have used it to clean my deck, lawn chairs, screen porch, patio and siding.
I would have never bought an electric washer, but I am glad my daughter did. It is more powerful than I expected and it works great. Just hook up the hose, plug it in and clean mold and mildew like never before.
I recommend this product- you won't be sorry.
PWD RESPONDS: Both Task Force and Powerwasher are made by the good folks at Faip.

Horrible experience with the machine
By Brian Burke

I had received a PWS1800-U for Christmas and took it out of the box about a week ago (6/2/09).
It had about 6 hours of run time on it when this past Sunday I was washing some plastic lawn furniture and the motor just gave up. A large puff of smoke came out of the unit and it stopped working.
The tough part of the story is that it was a gift and I’m trying to track down the internet receipt and that it was about 6 months ago.
It was a great little machine and I was cleaning up a storm until it stopped working.
I had just registered on line and looked through the manufacturer's spare parts and I didn’t see a motor listed.
I have emailed the manufacturer two times and all I've gotten is an automatic e-mail.
PWD RESPONDS: Please click on the Customer Service button at the bottom of our web site, then click on Technical Support, and then choose Powerwasher.
You will be taken to their web site, and you will see their Live Chat box on the left side of the screen instead of a toll free number to call.
Just type in your situation, and they will help you right there. It really is a live person at the other end!
Another tip: electric pressure washers need time to cool off;. Check every 30 minutes or so; if the air coming out of the vents is hot, then take a break for 10 minutes or so; longer if it's a very hot day.

Powerwasher 1800 PSI (not our customer, don't post)
By John C.
Burke, Virginia
Review Posted 05/18/2009
I took this unit to the beach to pressure wash the siding of the house and lawn furniture. Within two minutes of the first time I had it out of the box, the spray nozzle split rendering that attachment useless. Next I put the highlow pressure wand on and the "low" portion failed. I was able to finish using only the high pressure portion. It has a reel for the nozzle but it was threaded on backwards and the line wouldn't feed. I applied a little pressure thinking it was just stiff and the plastic crank piece broke off!
No phone #s listed so I contacted the email help desk and got no reply whatsoever. Had to call Target where I bought it to get the OEM # then wait 30 min for someone to answer. They encourage you to use email but are not responsive. All I can get them to give me are more parts which will probably break next year when it is out of warranty. I should know better and buy a real tool like a gas model or a Campbell Hausfeld instead of a hunk of plastic which will wind up in the landfill.
The only reason I give it two stars is because the motor is strong and works well. It never tripped once.
My old unit is a Campbell-Hausfeld 1400 PSI and is 12 yrs old. I will be finishing my work using it after I get it back from the neighbors who also borrow it and use it! It's got a hundred hours on it with no problems.
PWD RESPONDS: The Technical Support link at the bottom of our website lists (800) 381-0999 for Powerwasher.

Keeps turning off after only 5 minutes

This unit has been a problem since day one. I've only used it 3 times to clean our pool patio deck.
At first, it used to turn off after about 10 minutes of use. Overheating after just 10 minutes???? Now it goes off after 2 minutes! It's very exasperating.
There is no "800" number to call, just their "customer service" email address. I'm still waiting for a response on the status of my "ticket number".......

I tested the unit for 30 minutes when I first got it, it worked fine. A week later I began to clean bricks, flagstone and patio furniture.
After about an hour the "automatic total stop" (motor stops when trigger is released) feature began failing.
Also, the design could be much better: the washer hose connection located on the back of the unit is too close to the power cord and the unit's exterior cover.
This makes it a little more challenging to connect and disconnect the washer hose. Also, the two wands do not fit in the side holder without some effort.
PWD RESPONDS: Powerwasher units have a one year factory warranty. Please contact them at www.pwhelp.com, they will be happy to assist you.
